Shade + Illuminate: TOM FORD
I have been playing around with some new product from Tom Ford, and I wanted to share it with you! These are called SHADE AND ILLUMINATE LIPS, and they are fantastic.
As most makeup artists do, we don't always use things as instructed. These are made for the lips, as described below:
SHADE AND ILLUMINATE LIPS BRING THE PLAY OF LIGHT AND DARK INTEGRAL TO TOM FORD'S FACE PHILOSOPHY TO COLOR CONTOURING. TWO SHADES, ONE LIGHT AND ONE DARK, COMPLEMENT FOR SHAPING LIPS WITH HIGH PIGMENTATION IN A VELVET MATTE FINISH. USING THE DUAL-ENDED APPLICATOR, FEATURING A SPONGE ON ONE END AND A LIP BRUSH ON THE OTHER, BOTH SHADES CAN BE APPLIED TO CREATE A SUBTLE TO DRAMATIC OMBRE EFFECT. TOM FORD'S POWDER-GELEE FORMULA FEATURES EMOLLIENT OILS AND A BLEND OF POLYMERS THAT PROVIDE RICH COLOR RELEASE AND ADHERENCE. EACH COLOR COMBINATION IS DESIGNED TO COMPLEMENT EVERY SKIN TONE.
SO... I actually use them on the cheeks! I prefer them that way. The formula is amazing, and I think it's the perfect texture for the cheeks. It feels smooth, velvety, and undetectable on the skin. I like these for cheeks because they are easy to apply, they diffuse really well, and they don't give off a shiny finish. It's nice to use a cream product that really blends into the cheeks, for a seamless, natural finish. I use my fingers to apply them straight to the apples of my cheeks.
My favorite color for the cheeks is the palette Automatic. It's the lightest and most nude/neutral from the group. You can play with both colors separately, or mix them together. It's also very easy to layer this product to get the perfect flush.
By all means, don't let me stop you from also using these on your lips.....there is nothing better than having a product that is a multi-tasker, just for me personally I prefer them more for the cheeks. I am moving away from a very matte finish on my lips, so it's just personal thing. As you are looking at the other color options, remember that a little goes a long way, so if you want one of the more punchier/vibrant palettes, you just need to use a teeny amount of product.
These were apart of TF's Spring Collection, so I am not sure if they will live with the line forever, or if they are just seasonal. My suggestion is to pick one up, because it's one of the easiest cream blushes you'll add to your collection. Not to mention the chic packaging.......xx!
